China Shipping makes Colombo a Hub Port for the Indian Subcontinent

China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL) operated vessel "CSCL Vancouver" made her inaugural call at the CICT Terminal in Colombo on the 19th of April 2015. This is the first CSCL operated vessel to call the port of Colombo in almost 7 years. This vessel is one of five CSCL vessels that have been deployed in their West African Express service, operating from West Africa to China.
Ceyline Neptune Shipping Pvt Ltd, as agents for CSCL in Sri Lanka have worked very closely with the CSCL Regional office in Dubai, CSCL Office in India and all other stakeholders such as the Chinese container terminal in Colombo CICT, to convince CSCL to make Colombo the hub port for the Indian Subcontinent (ISC) region.
CSCL services will connect Sri Lankan importers and exporters to China, Japan, Australia and Mediterranean destinations. The CSCL ISC agents have begun a collaborative effort to achieve the goal of bringing CSCL’s ultra large vessels (19,000teu) to Colombo to serve this region.
